A unique needle tip shape designed to reduce the psychological burden on healthcare professionals and patients.
Vascular injection is a medical procedure that is easily affected by the condition of the patient’s skin and blood vessels, as well as medical professionals’ experience. Many patients complain of pain and fear when needles are inserted, so unavoidable reinsertion places a heavy psychological burden on healthcare professionals.
Terumo has independently developed the 3D-Shin (shin means needle in Japanese) to solve this issue.
The tip angle of the needle has been made sharper than previous models to improve ease of insertion into the skin and reduce penetration resistance.
The needle has been designed to cut accurately on the first attempt to reduce the psychological burden on both healthcare professionals and patients.
An ideal short bevel that maintains a sharp tip angle
Terumo’s unique technology has achieved both ideal bevel length and tip angle on an injection needle for the first time in its history. It has a unique blade tip shape designed to improve ease of insertion into the skin and penetrate the blood vessel as intended.
POINT01
The short bevel improves the insertion success rate
Compared to conventional needles, the insertion success rate is higher even when the tip deviates from the center of the blood vessel. [Based on Terumo’s simulated blood vessel data (documents attached at the time of certification)].
The success rate was improved compared to conventional needles when inserting into a simulated blood vessel (PVC tube) at a position 0.5 mm off center.
POINT02
The sharp tip angle makes it easy to secure blood vessels
The tip angle has been made sharper, and the bevel shorter, in order to reduce penetration resistance at the needle tip or catheter tip, and also prevent blood vessels from collapsing or slipping during insertion.
In addition, the tip glows on the monitor screen during ultrasound examination to ensure visibility.
Reduces insertion resistance
Reduction in vascular deformation during insertion
Results show that there is less deformation and slippage of blood vessels compared to conventional needles and competitors’ indwelling needles.
[Based on Terumo's data from ex-vivo models using porcine blood vessels (documents were attached at the time of certification)]
POINT03
Supports a wide range of gauges and lengths
Terumo’s proprietary advanced development technology allows us to mass produce the 3D-Shin in various gauge sizes and lengths. Please contact us for details.
More reliable results with a single insertion.
Terumo offers unique needles that reduce both physical and psychological burdens.
